CANCELLED due to building project
The Cathedral has just announced that it is about to start work on installing a new glazed entrance called ‘The Narthex project’.
This magnificent change to the West front will completely transform the entrance to the Cathedral and greatly encourage visitors to enter the building as well as provide a stunning view from the outside. Construction will commence on the 3rd January and is due for completion on the 30th March in time for Easter. Unfortunately, due to the timing of the project, there will be an impact on all events scheduled to be held in the Cathedral, including the Ripon Cathedral Wedding Show.
The organising committee met last week to discuss the project and the impact on the Wedding Show during the building work. It was decided that, due to the size of the project, the disruption to access to the main entrance, the visual impact, and the possibility of dust and debris in the Cathedral it was felt that the Wedding Show may not meet your expectations as exhibitors. We also felt that brides-to-be and other visitors to the show would be disappointed. Postponement in 2012 was not felt to be an option as we understand that the Wedding Show work best for your business in the Spring, so it is with these points in mind that we have decided to postpone the Show until February 2013, at a date to be announced.
We are sorry to bring this news to you and I hope you will understand the reason for the committee’s decision?
The Cathedral will look fantastic once the work is completed and we are looking forward to making the Wedding Show in 2013 even better.
